As a legacy craft destination, Black Bear takes no shortcuts in their leather sourcing and crafting processes. They are committed to using only the highest quality, American made, vegetable-tanned leather. Because the traditional vegetable-tanning method uses only naturally occurring tannins, procured from plant material, it is environmentally friendly.
From the initial cuts to the final hand-sewn stitches, you can observe the leather making process firsthand at the on-site Black Bear Workshop. Feel free to engage and ask questions as heirloom leather pieces are designed and crafted, from start to finish, from tanned hides.
